The Fourth Bore Coalition’s settlement agreement with Caltrans committed “$2.0 million to fund improvements on State Route 13 corridor in the City of Berkeley, including but not limited to: Signalization and signal light timing, bicycle transit improvements, pedestrian improvements, and other such improvements as may be provided to Berkeley by a separate list from the FBC.” The agreement also states that “Projects will be selected by the City of Berkeley, with input of FBC, and subject to Caltrans’ approval for safety and feasibility‚ĶThis amount includes the $725,000 previously committed to the City of Berkeley for local street improvements.”

In July 2010, Berkeley’s Transportation Commission recommended (click here) a prioritized project list to Berkeley’s City Council. The Commission’s recommendation and associated staff report are expected to be on Berkeley City Council’s agenda in January 2011. Council agenda packets are available here.
